Today on the paid professional’s blog I will share with you something new for the first time. I’ll share with you what is making some people smile in Nigeria.
In 2015, I started to learn about blogging and all other things one can do online. I didn’t know many people make a living online not until then. I began to hear words like freelancing, affiliate marketing, copywriting, email marketing, sales pages, landing pages, etc. I didn’t understand what all those things were about.
I realized that I had a lot to learn and at least I have something else to acquire apart from my law degree which I was actively involved in. I thought this could be an opportunity that could change things for me because I began to find the internet an interesting place. I had a lot to learn. I casually started this blog.
Some of my online mentors like Robert G. Allen, Robert Kiyosaki, Brian Tracy in their books say the internet is the future of business.
So, I wanted to know how people make money online.
Well, after 4 years of learning blogging on a casual way without making money online I finally learnt something in 2020. Yes, since 2015 I didn’t take the online thing seriously not until now. Why? It’s because I tried to learn it alone. So, I failed in everything online I tried to do because I didn’t have anybody to guide me.
Not until I met Toyin Omotoso, I’ve struggled with understanding the online business world and how to make money online. Toyin is a professional digital marketer and online advertising expert.
I wrote this article to let you know that you can also learn from Toyin to help you ease your struggles and learn how you can take your business to a higher level playing field online and avoid some of the mistakes I made while learning. Toyin is a teacher and whatever he shows you he is doing it.
So, let me give you a gist about some things you can learn from Toyin. Perhaps you didn’t know, He is the founder of the 7Star Courses and creator of the Expertnaire Affiliate program, the first affiliate marketing site in Nigeria promoting digital products.
Okay, back to the gist. The number one thing you need to know about how to succeed online is that not everything can be found on your own. You need someone to guide you. You need a mentor. If you can’t find one, there must be somebody who knows somebody who knows someone. Anyway, that is why I am here to let you in on one I know.
There are much false information and fake people out there, if you need to make money online you need to find somebody online who is already doing it and has a good track record.
The number one thing I learnt is that to make money online, you have to sell something and you must learn how to market it well.
I don’t know what you are selling. Is it ebooks, clothes, cars, food recipes, dogs, or hair extensions? Nobody will do it for you. Except you pay someone to do it for you. But yet you can’t put the whole responsibility on someone else. What I have discovered about all those who succeed online in Nigeria, they promoted their business themselves at first before people buy into it.
People like Steve Haris, Emeka Nobis, and Akin Alabi promote their work themselves using their platforms. Why? It is because they learnt how to do it.
In a sense, the only way you can make money online is when you offer something. There are no two ways about it. You either have a product or service to offer to your audience and in an exchange offer you money.
There are no shortcuts, you must have something genuine to offer and it takes time to grow your audience.
It takes something of value time to grow and you must take your time and have the discipline to learn how to make your business grow. It takes patience and hard work to grow an online business. I wish I can tell you it’s easy but it is not. Do you get it?
Now let me show you somethings you can start now to make money online.
Remember, to make money online, all you do is using the internet to reach new people who are interested in what you have to offer you provide and they will pay you. This offer could be a product or service. The internet is only a platform or medium to reach people.
Here are some legitimate ways Nigerians are making money online
Freelancing is one of the ways many people are making money online. Here you exchange your skills and time online for money. Many business but home and abroad look for people with digital skills and they pay them $5 and above from jobs. Some online jobs offer as high as $1000 for jobs online.
Online Freelancing is probably the best way you can use to start making money online without any capital.
That is because all you are doing is helping businesses owners and individuals with your skillset.
1. Graphics designers
3. Social media managers
4. Audio/video transcribers
6. Web designers
9. App developers,
10. Fashion designers
11. Photographers, etc.
You only need to have a skill in any area and offer your skill out there Some of these skills are learnable in a short time. You do not need to spend four years at university.
The most popular ones are Fiver.com, UpWork.com, 99designs.com
You can sell your skill from graphic design to writing, to social media marketing to copywriting to programming to sales, etc.
If you will like to learn how to go about freelancing your skill, I have someone who can guide you. This is what you need to do. Go see Uche Nick here who will show you how you can go about Freelancing.

2: Affiliate Marketing
You have heard about affiliate marketing right. It took me a while to understand what affiliate marketing was all about. Affiliate marketing is the number one program for most bloggers and many affiliates are making it big from it.
Affiliate marketing is a big business industry valued in Billions of dollars.
Affiliate marketing is an income model where you make money by selling someone else’s product for a commission. I started out in this business model this year.
Basically, you get a link that recognizes you brought the visitor and when they buy, you get a commission which can be anything from 5% to as high as 90%.
It is an amazing way for complete newbies and bloggers to make good money online. If you don’t have a blog, it’s not a problem. All you need to do is learn how to share your affiliate links on social platforms the right way.
Your objective is to get sales for the product you are promoting and you get paid for it.
There are several affiliate programs out there. The common ones in Nigeria are Jumia affiliates, AliExpress, Konga affiliates, Bet9ja affiliate, Whogohost affiliates, etc. There are several out there. They market different things like household goods, electronics, games, Webhosting services, betting, and so many other things.
I recently joined an affiliate platform that promotes digital programs and products. Its called the Expertnaire affiliate program.
You may have heard the name before. It was created by my mentor Toyin Omotoso and has been around since 2018.
There are many people making as much as N100k a week with this model by posting their affiliate links on their Whatsapp status, FB pages, Instagram pages etc. Here is a story of an affiliate that made N1,000,000.00 in a week without running ads.
And you can even take it a step further by running paid adverts.
Anyway, If you are interested in this business model, you can get started simply by going to Expertnaire to sign up as an affiliate.
If you are new to affiliate marketing and you really want to make it big as an affiliate marketer, then you need to learn from someone.
I am going to recommend Onome Maureen. Onome Maureen’s 30-day challenge is for you.
The program helps you to start making money with affiliate marketing within 30 days and without spending any extra money on adverts or anything.
And as you will see here, her 30-day challenge program has plenty of testimonies from successful students.
3: Information Publishing
Are you a writer and you a good at sharing information? Information publishing is a business model where you publish and market information on a topic that people are looking to learn.
You can write how-to guides and courses on virtually any topic as long as people have an interest in it and are ready to pay for it.
The topics can be on anything of interest ranging from sex, money, relationships, business, travel, education, health, food, jobs, fashion design, photography, religion, etc.
Many authors are making it big here. Who says writers and authors don’t make money? If you know how to package your written work and present it in a desirable way, people will buy.
You can deliver your information products by writing ebooks or hardcopy books.
Information publishing is big business. Ask the top motivational speakers, relationship experts, religious leaders, educationist, and so on. What about authors of romance novels and children’s book storytellers?
There are 3 major steps to it.
1. Start by deciding on a topic that people will buy.
2. Package or Create the information into a product.
3. Create a System to market the information product. (This is where most people fail)
You can also sell the information in various formats:
– You can sell it as a simple ebook in PDF format
– You can sell it as a video or audio
– You can sell it as an online course
– You can sell it as a webinar, seminar or Teleseminar
– You can sell it a coaching program.
Okay, when it comes to information marketing you need someone to hold your hand. It’s a rough road and you need someone experienced to guide you. If this is what you like, you should look at Jonathan Melody’s IBM program.
The Information Busines Machine is a training on how Jonathan Melody was able to create N30m in a year income from creating and selling information products online. Wow. That’s amazing, isn’t it? You can too if you know how to.
Or you can watch Jonathan Melody Tell You himself. Watch him HERE.
4: Importation Business and Ecommerce
E-commerce is all about 3 things:
(1) Searching for physical products that solve problems for people or help them get closer to their desires. You can source these products here in Nigeria or import them.
(2) Buying the products at the lowest cost possible, importing them to Nigeria.
(3) And using a genius marketing method to sell them for good returns.
If you are going to run with this business model, make sure you do not run it like a lot of people.
Run it as a proper business.
Start with a huge and profitable audience/market. For example, fitness equipment, Women’s fashion accessories, electronic gadgets, etc.
What you do is to look for challenges people have in that market, find products on Aliexpress for instance that solve those challenges and then sell. In fact, you will even come across many products on Aliexpress that fix challenges you do not know exists.
Create a marketing system that allows you to pull in people who are interested in the type of products you are importing. You can advertise using Facebook, Instagram, Youtube, Google, Blogs, sell to them, sell to them repeatedly.
If you decide to take this to another level, you might even create a brand name and find companies that can help you create products with your brand name printed on them.
But you don’t have to start with that.
You can start importing with at least N50,000 or even lower.
But I’ll tell you one of the selling secrets I learnt from Robert G. Allen, “Buy Low, Sell High”
There are hundreds of products you can buy very cheap from china and sell here.
“However the most important factor is for you to ONLY import products that people really want to buy.”
Although I advise you import products when you have already existing buyers or you have advertised it and gotten proof that it is a product that will sell.
Ecommerce requires a capital of at least N50,000 to get it started. Also, it needs guidance. You won’t want to fall in the hands of fake people.
If you want to go with this online model, check out any of these
E-commerce training below.
You can watch Jonathan Melody’s free video training Here. He will show you three steps you must take to launch a profitable Ecommerce Business. It’s very educative.
All the 4 make money online models I shared in this post can be executed by an average person.
If you have zero money, zero connections but have skills or are willing to learn one, then do freelancing/consulting.
If you have access to some very helpful information that people will be willing to pay for, then you should consider getting into Information Publishing.
If you simply want to promote products without dealing with customers, Affiliate marketing is the way to go.
If you’re not the writing type or you want to sell something you can touch, E-commerce is great.
If you notice, I left out Blogging as a way to “make money online, here’s why.
That’s because blogging is an extremely hard and slow process and for most starters, it is not an excellent choice to generate income fast. I spent most of my time here in the past. The sure truth though is that when your blogging career finally stabilizes it becomes a sure source of income. it becomes a business. Many people started blogging on a part-time basis before taking it full time.
To do blogging, you need patience and discipline and in any case, you still need to incorporate Information Publishing, Affiliate Marketing, Consulting, maybe even E-commerce for a blog to be profitable.
However, if you think blogging is something you can do here is someone who can help you. We call him the Professor. Join Professor Joe Okoro to learn How to Blog for Cash. He is an ex-teacher turned online coach.
Finally, I have one final gift for you before I conclude this post. If you will like to make your success online possible, there is a course created by Toyin Omotoso where you can learn all you need to know about online sales and marketing. It’s called the 72Hour Income Generator Implementation Program.
In this course, you will learn how to do email marketing, how to create landing pages and sales page. You will get practical procedures to how to build online sales funnels, and you will get a free affiliate registration with the Expertnaire Affiliate platform. You will also learn how to do Facebook and Instagram advertising, the basic models for online business sales, and a lot of other information you’ll get that will open your eyes to what online business is all about.
This is a full online business success training that is affordable. This course will change your mindset about how to market and sell online.
Trust me, Toyin Omotoso did a great job here. How do I know? I am one of his students.
